The oil and coal lobby are working hard to distract, to get us to distract each other, by getting us to talk about the identity issues: race, class, inequality, health, education rather than focus on the even more serious issues around global heating. “Carbon footprint” is an elegant distraction making us feel responsible, each of us as the isolated human as energy user is the problem.

A new twist on this is getting us to get absorbed on the issue of health that depends on the quality of interior spaces - homes, factories and offices - hence needing good air conditioning and heating. Abandon our concerns with atmosphere, let t go to 3 %, all that counts is the retreat into good quality indoor air. not only do we forget about the outside, abandoned to increasingly inevitable heating, but focus on the inside using even more energy to prevent heat and cold deaths.
