Reading Toynbee.. leads me to think, in past ages men were up against men, but now we are up against men and their mischief of turning the world to their benefit and perverting it in the process..

It has been a long process
of exploitation of earth and people,
and the surplus has led to more
and on to too much.
Our dependence on the too much
leaves us unable to cut back.
