2461. Manage the whole? Centralization vs democracy?
From hunter-gatherers until now, we have been in a long incomplete arc, failing to establish a just quality of life for all. The result has led to wars, colonialism, poverty and the corruption of earth and of society. We have yet to manage our relationship to the earth, and to develop people and meaning within a democracy built on much broader participation. We are searching for some kind of harmony between two intangibles: a future which we have not yet imagined and a present we cannot properly describe.
