I have quoted this before but I find it so attractive, so again..
We are at the very beginning of time for the human race. It is not unreasonable that we grapple with problems. But there are tens of thousands of years in the future. Our responsibility is to do what we can, learn what we can, improve the solutions, and pass them on. — Richard Feynman
We are smart enough to invent but not smart enough to organize to control what we invent. Automobiles for example. We are still increasing CO2 while having set (COP 26) a goal of decrease of 7.5%. per year, including this one, summing to 50% by 2030, 8 years away. Feynman’s view says lets pay attention to the platform we are making - is it adequate to support the efforts of the next few generations in their efforts to do better, (some of which are already with us)
Gardenworld is not looking for a permanent new culture which would substitute one rigidity for what we have , because all things will continue to change. What we are looking for is a goal for current efforts as we try to limit global warming and regenerate a livable planet. This should not be just a dreary task but creative and rewarding, not just in product, but in process. We should do what makes us feel good about doing. As we struggle and play in creating the futures, it is important to remember that justice and fairness are always key to morale.
ps : in the original post i left out the “per year, including this one…” apologies. And thanks to a reader for the catch.
