2471. A flawed good book
Davos, home of the neoliberal, equilibrium economy “Davos Man”, has produced an amazingly good book. The Great Narrative, free on Amazon (maybe need a prime account). It is very good on what is wrong (short of criticizing corporations) and long on the need for compassion, cooperation and community. (the com words are related to Latin”with” and the co word from Latin together, corp from body.). The book fails in my view by treating natural gas as a clean fuel and tolerant of bioengineering. The logic is self-strangulating. Except for such lapses it is very worth reading because it shows how far the mainstream seems to have moved. It is not dry and mechanical but humane and warm and jargon free. Can it go further? The authors have arrived at a more sane place and that we should teach compassion and cooperation in school. The logic seems weak. How to get to the rest of the population is resigned to relying on pressure from deteriorating events.
4.95 to buy if no prime.
