2509. Is a shared belief system needed and possible?
we are not in a culture of believe but a culture of consumerism, If an utterance or act does not feel like it fits in a culture of belief it feels meaningless. Can a society survive without a shared belief system that gives significance to each and every act.
I wonder if we could pull together the core beliefs of religions and include the ethics of science - question, explore, disseminate, engage, be honest. and maybe above all curious. Could these cohere as we congratulate ourselves on good management of the planet and make these into a sufficient culture of belief about humans in the critical zone* to make a civilization fruitful?
Are there clues in the world’s reaction to the Russian over-reach in the Ukraine as to how a true state of existential emergence wad widely asserted?
