2515. Taxing the rich versus preventing their getting so rich.
Two approaches to the problem of the rich. First is to tax them once they already have the income. The second is to reduce the income so they never get it. The rich like to think they earned the money, but nobody got rich without the presence of society and society deserves some of the benefits of having provided, for example, education to the employees and customers without which the rich would not be rich.
But that is just the beginning. Leaders should lead for society, not for a subset called the economy.. The very existence of tragically poor people is an indication the social system is not working while at the same time it is evidence that the economic system, which is OK with losers, is working.
Bringing the economy and society back into better coordination is a task for any future. It is broken. so let’s fix it.
