It is obvious that the way we have been living is a large set of problems. But perhaps one cause. Each activity has a soda straw down into the fossil fuel pools. It helps to see how the many and the one are related.
But what is missing is a sense a vision actually, of where our efforts at regeneration could take us. Gardenword is my chop at getting to that image. Gardenworld is a mix of growing food and growing people with the clear idea that doing them in the same place makes a space where basic needs and the deeper reach into the meaning of things can happen together. Children play, adults have conversations and the space can be filled with comfort and artful creativity.
As we move of necessity towards simplification we are entering a domain anticipated by Aristotle who said "We can have growth without development or development without growth.” Meditate on that for a bit. (add water to wine, rearrange what we have)
The Arts and Crafts movement of the late 1800's was aiming at a democratic architecture for a democratic society mixing basic needs with art and gardens.
