We would like to be able to act on issue A without hurting other issues in the system. Nature does that by slow limited experiments so even if nature makes a move that hurts part of the system it only affects a small part of the whole. Foxes catch rabbits, oak trees remain in place. But humans have atomic bombs and bioweapons, supply chains, or plague causing virii. The result is our systems are more deeply threatened by ourselves/ than by nature.
We have not been smart about who we are. Most history treats humans as superior but in fact, we are just another species with attributes. Like being smart. But from that conclusion, we look down on others. I am convinced that every animal is smarter about what is important to it than we are about those things. Worse, we are not smart, through ego, on not thinking through the things we are dependent on. Destruction of. nature and extractive relations with fellow humans. If we look at monkeys we see that the platform we come from is already a problem. But while at times murderous, they do put caring up front.
