There is a lot of talk about cutting the population, but no talk about how to do it outside of natural causes such as drought, floods, plagues, or war, especially atomic. The purpose seems to be to eliminate any sense of responsibility, hopefully blaming the cuts on natural causes, not choices made by us. In medicine, triage refers to deciding on who can survive with care and those who can't. Numbers are large and migrants are met with hostility rather than invitations. Perhaps not discussing the issue is better. A mother with a baby going through this? Wide-awake young people with newly awakened feeling for ethics, adults feeling helpless and responsible? The heart shrivels.
