This is not denial, it is schizophrenic. Society, by making us into consumers and denying us meaningful citizenship, did not develop in us approaches for thinking about large systems. We can think about EVs but not about alternative transportation or rethink the needs that seem to require them. So we cannot connect what we know about climate (such as the so far unstoppable rising temperature and climate turbulence because of more energy in the atmosphere) to the larger forces (such as the extractive economy) we live in.
