Crucial criticism

I am struck and puzzled by so many conversations, talking about climate related issues, and what to do about them all where in these conversations, there is a tremendous amount of self-congratulation about how wonderful the conversation is. But how do we get more discipline if we can't call our paragraphs what they so often are: all the various forms of inadequacy to the task? We seem to be in a culture where everyone gets an A. It won't do.
