There is a lot of talk about whether technology is helping or hurting the emergence of a better society. Technical people are willing to look for solutions that do not fit humans. An example is the garbage truck. They used to have a crew of three, one driving and two hauling cans, frequently switching roles. They talked a lot and even a time sang. The technology of the foreclosure reduces the crew to one sitting in a cab by himself for an eight-hour day, surrounded by the noise of lifting the cans, emptying them, and returning them to the Earth, the whole machine, driven by internal combustion engine.
