My current view.
We are not and will not cut CO2 emissions
Temperature will continue to rise
The cost for humans and most species will be great
People will struggle to hold on rather than change.
M\any supply chains and infrastructures will fail
The geopolitical situation is as dangerous as the climate
Governance is not adequate to ether, much less both
History, the stories of engaged human projects, is never complete. We like to think the world is a fairly stable place but actually everything is in motion and the world is more like political. economic, social and cultural tectonic plates than like a well ordered set of Lego blocks. There has never been a generation of humans without crisis.
We later civilizations, we too know that we are vulnerable -
- Pau Valery 1898
Our own consumerized generations are stuck in the present, which is very dangerous because the situation requires serious responses. We are a species among species spread upon this small ball of earth. We should be taking care of the whole. The most remote person is a companion to us and all the species fellow travelers. Climate news is not good. People are on the move, either on foot or in their imagination. They want to know where next and what then in this still vast world. Feynman guides us toward a future with responsibility intact.
We are at the very beginning of time for the human race. It is not unreasonable that we grapple with problems. But there are tens of thousands of years in the future. Our responsibility is to do what we can, learn what we can, improve the solutions, and pass them on. — Richard Feynman
