Imagination needed

People stuck,  Writing the posts feels like giving a rousing graduation speech and then the grads go back to the real world.

It is clear there is no way we will meet the Paris agreement that by2030 the 50 percent goal. Yeats wrote

The center cannot hold,

mere anarchy is loosed upon the land

He knew.

 WW1 millions dead. A generation of arts lost.

Ww2. Millions dead a generation of families dead

The Iraq war.  And Afghanjstan and the rest

Many individuals (I have my doubts, using my  self as a case ) knew,  but society seemed incapable of drawing  implications for what needed to change. The scale can’t be the problem. The 100 million dead in the 20th century was not enough but did show that numbers were not the deciding factor that could get our attention.  In China Lao Tzu  and Confucius created an atmosphere of relative calm while in the West Rome split into  two parallel structures, christianity and the empire.   But this collapsed under the pressures of trade, population , extention into Americas, colonialism, slavering , wealth devouring wars, The loss of the christian belief world left a gap filled by the Treaty of Westphalia and the federalization of belief in segments, catholic, Protestant, trade and science. No coherent thought was possible. Brutal empires were replaced slow by anarchy and despotism.

Imagination is the reaction to an inadequate image. Puzzles motivate, if we let them.
