Investment, but not for society
The Investment gold-rush, hyped by green finance, gives hope that economic activity can hide, maybe even control, global warming. Things falling apart are being hyped as opportunity land. Creating huge bubbles. some of those opportunities will be real sources of increased wealth but not benefitting society. Instead creating greater inequality and cynicism - or blinded optimism. Almost all investment is aimed at increasing economic activity, adding on to the exiting energy and market regime, and increased economic tivity must create more co2 and hence contribute to rising temperatures. Investment puts money in that will be spent. At the best new economic activity might help, but the time frame and inflation in materials makes it unlikely.
