One thing is striking, the speed with which one culture can turn into another- but not at the speed we need now. This culture of money debt and consumerism is killing the biosphere -Gaiacide. It might be the culture of individualism is the fundamental but I think it is more the culture of separation. Growing up sleeping in a space with the family adults, including grandparents, and maybe an uncle or aunt and a guest. The actions and conversations that occur in the night are deeply integrating and interesting. In my own life, I missed that and had a small radio and listened under the covers to the Lone Ranger, and The Thin Man. Though I did learn some serious ethical lessons from them. Most of us grew up with a private room for "Me and my toys ” that became the adult model of the repository of our consumables. Many of us have a bookcase filled with CDs. or earlier vinyls that are taking up room never visited.? This culture of relative isolation makes politics and social change very hard. Primarily because we do not seek nor know how to make conversation.
