A major part of the reactions to Climate Change is an awareness of the problem with income inequality. The same forces that create the climate problem, extraction from the natural resources, without replenishment and extraction of wealth from peoples labor, create both problems. One might almost say that all the problems we face are created by the same underlying dynamic.
My thinking has been that increase in population and increasing density of relationships is weaving the fabric of momentum that is harder and harder to change, and that is the fate of a species which is so sexual and so able to make connections between ideas and things and people. Population plus cleverness weaves a fabric of unstoppable momentum.
So it is interesting to think of what possible alternatives are there? One problem among many aspects is the question of human nature: are there enough good people to run a fair society? In the past that has been achieved through religious urgencies, but these turn out to be oppressive And unsustainable, so maybe we slide between periods that are free of restraints, but extractive and periods with high constraints but oppression.

Whether there are good elites depend on generational ability to nurture values that are sustainable rather than short term greed that is predatory.
