Is it possible to think thru to changes needed in society now if we do not have plausible narratives of the changes that got us here.? Without such a narrative, we tend it to see the desirable future as being an extension of the existing present. Basically an approach implying no change. A variation on this theme is to see an adequate series of policies and actions as technology - the throughput of material into products and waste - without changes in governance or economy - or the economics needed to understand what is going on.
