If we have in mind the scale of the current set of world problems, we see that it is huge and complex whereas proposed solutions, mostly siloed, deal with one or a few variables at a time - clearly inadequate. Can we turn this into a proposition?
Problems require solutions of approximately equivalent scale. A big bad people cannot be "solved" with a small-scale good solution. Big bad, like climate, requires a big good solution. Hence our intuitive skepticism when big [problems are met with proposed small-scale solutions.
There may be possibilities: the way a small key can open a big lock. The trouble is, a lock is designed to receive the key, but big bad problems are often (oil companies) designed to prevent the design of a key.
