Sea levels are rising and local efforts to hold the sea back by building of walls are increasing. Something like two-thirds of the US population lives within the target of rising seas. The rich live close to the sea in most cases. The pressure is on to shift existing budgets to construct beach-front walls. But they will be temporary fixes. The money wasted. Projects to protect the whole population, such as a garden society, will be abandoned in order to shift budgets to sea walls.
