I think we are concluding that necessary steps are very unclear, very hard to clarify, and hence nearly impossible to do. Most proposals assume that we have to get from where we are to a better place: greening while growing. Not likely, the contradictions are too great. If we face facts instead of assuming and hoping for continuity of our current state to a better state that actually looks the same we instead and courageously conclude that we need to move to a partially collapsed state where things have come apart enough to allow us to reorganize. If this emerges as a consensus then we face a large number of new possibilities.
