We will all lie in the rubble, dead and unburied. ….
Unless we get creative.
The following is scattered and telegraphic but better to get it in the conversation. Calling the current crisis climate change or catastrophe takes us away from the reality the elite don’t want to discuss - that it is social collapse we are facing where every institution is corrupted by a culture of extraction of wealth from land and people.
From a Mckinsey and co report,
.“Driving sustainable and inclusive growth in G20 economies
Our analysis indicates G20 economies currently emit approximately 31 Gigatons of CO annually and need to be halfway to net zero by the end of this decade.”
Why would Kinsey employees write in support of profit-taking, subsidies and guarantees to business, and the general approach of extracting wealth for some from the many?. Almost everyone proposes in their interest, few against. - Maybe it is even a rule. Watching compnay execs at conferences mouth what’s tolerable in their place of work is discouraging. Can you show me one person whose economic thinking conflicts with their interest? - We need to understand this. Part of the problem is the nation-state because it gives additional weight to nations as competitive entities.
The nation-state is a piece of property that can be subdivided and owned.
israel is an example of the pathology of the state, giving rise to the idea that one people and no one else can occupy this place. The Palestinians were widely educated and we lost their talent to conflict and hatred. Why fight when you could cooperate? Interests are acted on as seen not as they are.
This result, often attributed to the Treaty of Westphalia.provides the social infrastructure - sovereignty and borders - for this kind of conflict in much of the world. Technical employees, - coders and chip designers - do not realize that they are soldiers in a war. (Wrong: they actually do but it is put in the reductionist college and professional sports framework. Don’t we all at times have the feeling that sports continue the struggles of the Roman Coollesium and are violent and bloody and brain-destroying?)
How do we get to Income, not in currency but in necessities and on to the quality of life?
From Wiki :
The end of the Cold War saw increased international integration and, arguably, the erosion of Westphalian sovereignty. Much of the literature was primarily concerned with criticizing realist models of international politics in which the notion of the state as a unitary agent is taken as axiomatic.
