Musk wants society to be profitable so he can tax it to finance SpaceX. We are the ants in the hive and he is the squirrel in the tree. it is the source of his interest in population: the bigger the better. A smaller population is not opposed to quality of life, but they aren’t like factory system where everyone must work for the tax base is.
