Reading about law in the US, for example, corporate law. friends, even lawyers ,do not know the history nor have an overview of contemporary law issues. Key academic fields: law, economics; journalism, architecture, medicine, education, are not teaching young people the history of their field. The reason might be to defang their capacity to mount alternatives persoectives with interesting reflections on the present from the past. For example, corporations used to have time limited charters and specified tasks. What happened? The founding fathers, as one can see by reading the federalist papers and biographies of particular people, how deeply educated they were about the history of politics and governance. We are really weakened by current practice and acquiesce to easily to our passivity. we are undoing the. hard work that they did.
