I feel that climate change is getting to everybody and consciousness is shifting, maybe not consciousness, but a feeling for the atmosphere. People are more apprehensive, quiet when you would expect conversation. here on the shore of the Adriatic there is awareness of looming water shortages, which are already affecting river traffic in manufactured goods and tourism.* Characteristically people talk about food prices, but not food shortages missing the causal chains that could help understand what’s happening.
We do not know very much about how Society’s mind change can happen. When we are in a relationship where is that relationship? Is it in you? Is it in me{? Is it in the air? Many years agoI was puzzled by when we are on the phone with someone we are together, but where is that together? In us? But if not there, where? In the wires. When society is going through a major shift how much of it is in the individuals and how much of it is - well, where is the rest ?in the media and things that can be observed like the number of closing businesses during covid that affects us all similarly? Maybe the Indian concept of Brahman is more holistic and names a place where shared thoughts can happen. Which of our existing cultures can best deal with climate?
There are a large number of new institutes, blogs, shared public symposia and panel discussions while brining out of retirement old climate veterans for their sagging perspectives, dealing with climate change, and the repeated anxious question is, what should we do?
A good answer might be to keep doing what you’re doing, do it the best you can, and at the same time build for extreme flexibility, with the ability to move quickly to alternative ways of being, doing, and living.
More direct, write down what you think is happening. See if you can find in what you wrote something the rest of us are missing. Revise tomorrow.
