Why do so few writing about climate and civilisational collapse don’t make use of the anciet histories.? Here is a quote from Eric Cline and his book,
1177 BC: The Year Civilization Collapsed
If the late Bronze Age civilizations were truly globalized and dependent upon each other for goods and services, even just to a certain extent, then change to any one of the relevant kingdoms, such as the Mycenaeans or the Hittites, would potentially affect and destabilize them all…. The trading networks, that were both interdependent and complicated in their relationships, thus were open to instability the minute there was a change in one of the integral parts.
The line “The trading networks, that were both interdependent and complicated in their relationships, thus were open to instability the minute there was a change in one of the integral parts.” is a methodology framework that people now seem to avoid.
Again, for emphasis, “the minute there was a change in one of the integral parts.” Feel familiar?
This is why all "fix it” approaches that section off one part of the current mess for a rethink are not likely to succeed. The avoidance of this literature is malpractice.
